The Functions of Autobiographical Memory in Patients with Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders

thesis
posted on 2022-04-28, 01:01 authored by YUJIA ZHANG
This thesis explores the function of autobiographical memory in people suffering from schizophrenia, and how these functions are associated with other factors, such as emotions, perceived relationships, and how they made meaning of the lived experiences. The results of these studies have both theoretical and practical implications. For example, the finding of self-discrepancy in ought-self predicting the ruminative function of AMs indicates that the self plays a significant role in how we retrieve our past. Besides that, some findings also have direct practical implications of what patients with schizophrenia need in their recovery stage — social relationships.
