Young people in out-of-home care (OOHC) often experience academic challenges. This thesis examined the educational experiences of young people in OOHC. Results indicated the importance of a safe and stable learning environment for young people in OOHC, with positive teacher and peer relationships. Educator understanding of the impacts of OOHC on students' learning and the importance of individualised learning support were highlighted as important to young people’s academic learning. Interagency collaboration between professionals and the inclusion of young people in decisions about their education were also shown to be essential when supporting the educational needs of young people in OOHC.
