This thesis examines new methods to predict for risk of venous blood clots. It determined that inherited genetic variants can be used to predict for a higher risk of blood clots in people with COVID-19 infection, and in people with cancer. The thesis also develops a new way to assess the probability of developing long-term complications after blood clots in the lungs.
