The Changing Landscape of Venous Thromboembolism: Evaluating novel prognostic concepts for venous thromboembolism and its chronic complications

This thesis examines new methods to predict for risk of venous blood clots. It determined that inherited genetic variants can be used to predict for a higher risk of blood clots in people with COVID-19 infection, and in people with cancer. The thesis also develops a new way to assess the probability of developing long-term complications after blood clots in the lungs.
