The Bangladesh Liberation Movement : its international legal implications

The study begins with a brief survey of the historical background and some of the remarkable events of the East Pakistan crisis out of which Bangladesh was born.  Similar to the problem of national unity associated with other multi-racial states, the political history of Pakistan ever since its independence centered  around the attempt to  solve the dilemma of national unity and of equitable regional participation in the national power structure.  Certain plural states have been able to preserve their national solidarity by defusing the separatist sentiment of dissident  groups. But Pakistan attempted in vain.
