This PhD project investigated ways to optimise successful strategies for supporting community health workers to detect, identify and manage people in rural India who have cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or cancer. There were two major findings. A mobile health app specifically designed to manage these non-communicable diseases is usable and accepted by health workers to support their work in the community. Second, a training program specifically targeting these diseases is effective in improving health workers’ knowledge about non-communicable diseases and their risk factors. These training materials can be used to train health workers in similar settings.
