Targeting the Key Enzymes and Associated Molecules of Energy Metabolism for Induction of Cell Death in Breast Cancer

thesis

Breast Cancer is a leading cause of cancer related death among women worldwide. Cancer cells show many distinct features regarding signalling pathways and energy metabolism. They prefer less efficient aerobic glycolysis, uncouple glycolysis and mitochondrial respiration and resort to glutamine metabolism- changes that not only meet up their energy requirement, but also support rapid growth and proliferation. In this study, we identified some potential therapeutic targets in energy metabolism pathways and silenced them with short interfering RNAs (siRNA) delivered via carbonate apatite, a powerful nanocarrier, which showed significant positive outcome in the preclinical model of breast cancer.
