Targeted echocardiographic screening for subclinical left ventricular dysfunction to prevent incident heart failure

This thesis investigates strategies to prevent heart failure - when the pumping function of the heart is inadequate and symptoms develop. I identify how to select those most at risk, the sophisticated heart ultrasound measures that indicate early disease and test whether a drug used in advanced heart failure could prevent onset of symptoms.
