This thesis explores multiple aspects of the exciting field of targeted protein degradation concerning both chemical synthesis and biological application. This therapeutic approach which uses the cell’s protein recycling system to specifically reduce the amount of disease-causing proteins present within the cell. The strategy was investigated in two main contexts. Firstly, as a way to fight hepatitis B virus infection, with results indicating the potential for effectiveness against a drug-resistant strain of the virus. Secondly, this strategy was investigated against a well-known cancer causing protein. Additional findings from this project improve the speed and efficiency of the processes used to make these large, complicated molecules.
