Tackling Polymyxin Resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa: A Multi-disciplinary Approach

thesis
posted on 2018-03-26, 00:39 authored by MEILING HAN
This thesis, for the first time, provides an important mechanistic insight into the comprehensive mechanisms of polymyxin resistance in P. aeruginosa through the integrated neutron reflectometry and systems pharmacological approaches. Our research highlighted the complex and dynamic interactions of multiple cellular metabolic pathways involved in the bacterial physiological response to polymyxins, and their potential as therapeutic targets. Our study has made a significant contribution to understanding polymyxin mode of action and helps to tackle polymyxin resistance in Gram-negative "superbugs".
