THE EFFECTS OF SLEEP AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE FOR IMPROVED DECISION-MAKING

thesis
posted on 2021-05-16, 04:45 authored by JOO PIN LOH
This research aims to shed light on the effects of sleep and emotional intelligence (EI) on the following areas of managerial decisions: Thought process, cognitive decisions, creative problem-solving, ethical decision-making, and economic/social exchange. The author is interested in knowing if a partial sleep-deprived person would function as good as a person with sufficient sleep. There were seven hypotheses regarding seven tasks: Conscious thought, cognitive, creativity, ethics, fairness, trust, and EI. As the results of two studies, three hypotheses of cognitive, creativity, and ethics are supported. On the cognitive and creativity experiments, the sufficient sleep group outperformed the insufficient sleep group.
