Synthesis, structural analysis and application of rare earth thiocyanate complexes

This thesis investigates various facets of rare earth thiocyanate chemistry. A strong focus is placed on the structural chemistry of these complexes and the utilisation of the metal based redox transmetallation route for their synthesis. Reactivity studies were undertaken to investigate the utility of rare earth thiocyanate complexes as starting materials in salt elimination reactions.
