Synthesis and Optical Properties of Gold Nanoparticles and Superstructures

This thesis explores the methods by which the structure of metal nanocrystals can be modified, and how the morphology and environment affects their optical properties. This is enabling knowledge that allows the rational design of structures that have the ability to focus energy on the nanoscale.
