The title of the thesis is “Synthesis and Characterisation of Low Oxidation State Main Group Element Complexes Utilising Extremely Bulky Ligands”. The thesis describes research works performed towards the syntheses of low oxidation state main group element complexes. The successful synthesis of low oxidation state Al hydride clusters which are polyhedral analogues of borane, enantiopure amido dipnictenes and carbene analogues of group 13 elements are described. Further, small molecule activation reactions of these complexes are investigated.
