Sustainability from a Network Legitimacy Perspective: A Case of Malaysia's Solar Photovoltaic Industry

thesis
posted on 2018-08-16, 08:35 authored by STEPHANIE KAY ANN CHEAH
The thesis examines the relationships between business and non-business actors in the development of Malaysia's solar photovoltaic industry. Interviews are conducted with these actors to understand how they obtain and maintain legitimacy for business sustainability. The change in policies over the decade have altered the dynamics of the solar photovoltaic production and consumption market. Over time, actors build consensus on what is deemed sustainable solar practices at individual-firm, project-management and industry-network levels. Ultimately, actor's expectations and experiences contribute in legitimising solar photovoltaic as a energy source.
