Sustainability based strategy planning using multiple criteria decision making
This thesis develops a novel framework using multiple criteria decision making techniques to evaluate and manage a set of strategy alternatives for achieving the sustainability of a system. With its extendibility to accommodate various decision settings, the framework evaluates strategy alternatives in terms of their contribution towards mitigating the barriers to sustainability and manages their effective implementation planning. As demonstrated with two new application domains, the framework enables effective planning of strategy alternatives for achieving sustainability under distinctive decision settings. The framework represents original contributions to sustainability and strategy planning research with both methodological and practical significance.
