Surfactant design for wormlike micelles

thesis
posted on 2023-09-12, 13:22 authored by ASHLEY PETER WILLIAMS
The design of materials for personal care products such as liquid soaps or shampoos is shifting toward a renewable paradigm to address the net zero carbon targets in industry. This research has uncovered fundamental knowledge surrounding product formulation of surfactant molecules and their molecular design to address the need for product reformulation with renewable materials. Specifically, understanding the solution behaviour of existing surfactant molecules, how they could be formulated without typical additives such as salt and the behaviour of novel sugar-derived surfactant molecules
