Concrete block pavements (CBP) are emerging globally due to their numerous benefits but vibrations under increasing traffic have affected their serviceability to a vast extent. Vibration control measures employing green materials such as oil palm shell and rubber can absorb excessive vibrations due to their unique properties. Henceforth, the development and application of a rubber-oil palm shell (ROPS) eco-composite vibration control layer in CBPs to reduce the excessive vibrations from vehicular movement without affecting the structural properties of the pavement was studied. Results evince that this novel approach has utmost potential and likely paves the way for sustainable developments in the transportation sector.
