The thesis investigates the use of steel as an art making materials in service of producing three-dimensional forms. Through the process of learning how to weld, to work with metal in an industrial workshop environment, the artist uncovers possible connections and relationships that manifest through this sustained engagement with steel. Within the writing the artist concurrently explores the practice of two Australian artists, Inge King and Rose Nolan, which assists her in analysing material practice, and own her desires, impulses and modes of working.
