Solving the Mauritius Developmental State Puzzle

This thesis examines the postcolonial development of Mauritius. The development of Mauritius has been labelled as an "economic miracle" in the scholarship. The thesis investigates this development through a "Developmental State" lens to explain how the state managed to adopt such a particular trajectory in the aftermath of independence which resulted in one of the most successful countries in its respective region.
