Social Processing in Borderline Personality and Substance Use Disorders: A Transdiagnostic Approach

thesis
posted on 2022-12-08, 08:49 authored by LAUREN ELISE HANEGRAAF
Difficulties with social processing have been associated with numerous disorders including Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Emerging evidence indicates that personality trait profiles may contribute to different social processing abilities, and new dimensional models of psychopathology provide frameworks for investigating traits (AMPD) and social processing (RDoC) separately. To date, there has been no systematic attempt to integrate these frameworks and investigate the overlap between trait and social processing dimensions. Therefore, the broad aim of this thesis was to utilise these models to explore trait and social processing heterogeneity in individuals with BPD and SUD.
