This thesis investigates the impact of two preferential trade agreements, PACER Plus and the Cariforum-EU EPA, on social policy space to uphold the Right to Food (RtF) in Pacific and Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The research focusses on how international political economy factors shape domestic policy space in the SIDS. The thesis found that PTAs compromise the RtF in SIDS by further entrenching the neoliberal agri-food system; diminishing policy space to uphold the RtF; and dis-embedding local agri-food systems from rural society.
