Forecasting has become increasingly essential to our understanding of the world. However, prediction of virus circulation and consequent health outcomes is an avenue that is yet to be fully explored. This thesis describes the creation and establishment of a novel platform, Snotwatch, which relates virus circulation to seven paediatric diseases in both time and space. With Snotwatch, historical data is analysed on a large scale and at a granular level, laying the foundation for future prediction of health outcomes for a specific population, time frame and location. This in turn can drive public health action, clinician response, and community behaviour.
