In the COVID-19 pandemic context, this thesis explored the significant impact on autistic child sleep alongside challenges accessing treatment, with research designed to evaluate a brief telehealth sleep program, ‘Sleeping Sound Autism’, with 61 families. Post-COVID-19 pandemic, families found the telehealth program practical and helpful, with sleep improved for many, including a shift to an earlier sleep-wake cycle. However, some caregivers expressed a preference for in-person access to the program, to optimise their child’s involvement. Findings inform choice of access to treatment (telehealth/in-person) and align with the National Disability Insurance Scheme recommendations for support to be provided in naturalistic settings.
