Simulation of solid flow in single screw conveyors

thesis
posted on 2020-05-20, 02:47 authored by XIN LI
This work investigated single screw conveyors by a particle scale approach for better performance and energy efficiency. For the horizontal screw conveyor, newly designed asymmetric screws can promote the cohesive solid flow by introducing a new disturbance. For the inclined screw conveyor, solid flow dynamic in the whole inclined screw conveyor were investigated. The solid flow is complex and can be affected by each component of the screw conveyor. Additionally, the effects of particle properties and screw parameters, including rolling friction, sliding friction, particle density, screw surface friction and screw geometry on the inclined screw conveyor performance were examined.
