This study investigated key stakeholders’ perceptions of shared decision-making (SDM) regarding people diagnosed with schizophrenia in China. SDM involves collaboration, sharing, weighing and building consensus to overcome diversity. The major findings include; meaningful involvement of various stakeholders in SDM is important to the quality of the decisions made and their successful implementation; SDM will not be achieved unless all stakeholders involved recognize the value of this collaborative form of decision-making, have the ability to engage in SDM, and make a concerted effort to facilitate this process. Future studies exploring SDM by using dyadic measures are recommended.
