Monitoring pavement loading is essential for pavement reliability modelling and maintenance. Current methods have limitations, providing constrained information and incurring substantial costs. This study evaluates a novel graphene-coated conductive geotextile for road infrastructure. Currently used in leak detection, the geotextile is examined for hydro and mechanical loading applications, serving as a pavement sensor. The research addresses deficiencies in current pavement monitoring methods by investigating the electro-mechanical behaviour of the geotextile and its response to moisture. The study also aims to integrate the geotextile into existing pavement monitoring practices through proof-of-concept laboratory experiments.
