This thesis demonstrates that the Feast of Corpus Christi, celebrating the Eucharist, developed out of an environment in which religious women are associated with the material world. The initial version of the Feast, authored by a religious woman, was thus re-written by Thomas Aquinas before it was adopted by the Universal Church.
