This thesis examined the role of an enzyme, INPP4B, in regulating the pathogenesis of human breast cancer. It identifies that INPP4B enhances the spread of breast cancer by regulating the function of small extracellular vesicles released by breast tumour cells. Moreover, this thesis reveals that INPP4B suppresses the ability of the body's immune system to recognise breast tumours, and may therefore prevent tumour detection and removal. These findings could be of significant benefit for improving the treatment of breast cancer patients with high INPP4B expression.
