Real-world evidence generation and economic evaluation for healthcare decision-making on Alzheimer's disease treatment in Thailand

This thesis aimed to generate real-world and cost-effectiveness evidence of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) treatment to inform health-policy decision makers in Thailand. Three studies were conducted to estimate economic and humanistic burdens of AD, investigate current situation of AD prescriptions and identify which of AD medications provides the best value for money. Findings indicate that AD is a high priority in Thailand because it is associated with huge economic and humanistic burdens and unequal treatment accessibility among patients insured under different heath benefit packages. Donepezil is identified as the most cost-effective AD treatment and worth being considered for universal financial coverage.
