Floods are one of the costliest natural disasters requiring profound interest from a technical standpoint. Flood mapping techniques provide a basis to gauge the extent of inundation associated with a flood event. This thesis explores the potential of adding topographic information to a novel reflected GPS dataset in mapping extents for flood events. The thesis also focuses on developing a conceptual flood inundation model, CFRHIM, that is rigorously tested for landscapes with varied topographies and against different levels of input data constraints. A statistical method to correct rainfall forecast was then integrated with CFRHIM to be operational for flood mitigation.
