Proteomic biomarkers of azoospermia in seminal plasma and testicular interstitial fluid

There is an unmet clinical need for more accurate, less invasive diagnosis methods for severe forms of male infertility, such as azoospermia. We analysed seminal plasma and testicular fluid from men diagnosed with different forms of infertility to better our understanding of these conditions and identify markers of male reproductive potential. We were able to see significant differences in protein expression between fertile men and infertile men diagnosed with varying degrees of testicular failure, and we identified several proteins that could serve as proteomic biomarkers for the differential diagnosis of idiopathic male infertility.
