Professional Identification and Innovative Behavior: A Moderated Mediation Analysis

thesis
posted on 2020-10-09, 02:58 authored by XING YUEN ANG
Drawing on the social identity approach, I studied the relationship between professional identification and innovative behavior by examining the mediating effects of harmonious passion and role breadth self-efficacy (RBSE) and the moderating effect of organizational and professional identity conflict (OPIC). By means of 308 responses from medical professionals, the relationship between professional identification and innovative behavior was fully mediated by harmonious passion and RBSE. The moderating effects of OPIC on both the indirect conditional effects of harmonious passion and RBSE were significant but contrary to those hypothesized. The indirect conditional effects were stronger when the medical professionals experienced higher OPIC.
