Problematic Use of the Internet (PUI) is an emerging global mental health issue to which university students appear particularly vulnerable. This thesis uses data-driven methodologies to assess the prevalence, mental health correlates, and cognitive features of PUI, and subsequently test the therapeutic efficacy of a digital mindfulness-based intervention. This work makes valuable headway in advancing the current understanding of the conceptualisation, assessment, and treatment of PUI within the student population, which is in pressing need of optimal support strategies.
