This thesis examines how two sustainable programs, therapeutic horticulture (TH) programs and animal programs, have the potential to innovatively enhance offender transformation in prison by making good use of the natural environment in some carceral institutions. This research aims to gauge the impact of these two kinds of sustainable programs on facilitating desistance in prison. In this undertaking, this thesis demonstrates considerable originality by building a link between sustainability and desistance in carceral environments for the first time.
