The thesis is an exegesis of algorithmic design methods exploring urban porosity for the purpose of increasing spatial flexibility through applied projects at a range of scales. It uses these algorithmic methods combined with design strategies extracted from studying precedents from the fields of Metabolism, Mat Building and Landscape Urbanism. It then combines different scaled methods to reflect upon the capacities of porosity, lessons learnt from precedents and roles for algorithms.
