Polytopal Methods for Irregular Meshes, Singular Situations and Advanced Model

This thesis examines the approximation of solutions to complex equations arising from physics, chemistry and biology. The thesis improves upon the accuracy, efficiency and robustness of the approximation methods for problems with complicated and intricate geometric features, and those exhibiting singular behaviour.
