This thesis discusses the production of an alternative diesel fuel, polyoxymethylene dimethyl ether (PODE(3-5)), from carbon dioxide and hydrogen to minimize the effects of climate change. This work covers experimental work and computational work. The experiment was conducted to optimize PODEn production in terms of product distribution and feedstock cost by adding water adsorbent, which resulted in the production of a longer chain of PODEn with an affordable raw material. The kinetics data was adapted to model the PODE(3-5) production plant from carbon dioxide and hydrogen. Energy optimization and a technoeconomic assessment were performed to examine the feasibility of the plant.
