Synthetic scaffolds are envisioned as potential medical devices capable of aiding in the repair and regeneration of host tissues. High internal phase emulsion templating represents a route to produce highly porous polymer scaffolds capable of supporting cell in-growth. This thesis presents strategies for creating larger channels in the highly porous structures with the help of 3D printing technologies. These strategies are expected to be beneficial for bone tissue engineering and related applications.
