Politics, Ideology and Identity: Hizb-ut Tahrir Bangladesh's Radicalisation of Youths' Worldviews

thesis
posted on 2018-08-25, 05:12 authored by IFTIKHAR ARMAN RASHID
The thesis investigates the role of politics, ideology and identity in influencing Muslim youths' evolving worldviews in Bangladesh, including whether such mindset changes constitute radicalisation. It is based on a case study of Hizb-ut Tahrir Bangladesh (HTB), while drawing comparisons with homegrown Islamist parties in the country. The study examines HTB's institutional and membership narratives within the wider local and international contexts affecting youths. The research also sheds light on HTB's mobilisation strategy and assesses potential security implications of youths being recruited by the group.
