Exercise has been shown to be beneficial for older people with dementia in High-income/Western countries, but little is known in the Asian context (where 60% of the world’s population live), where cultural, health-service and other differences may impact successful implementation. This thesis builds the evidence in current clinical practice for physiotherapists who treat people with dementia in Indonesia and exercise interventions for people with dementia living in Asia and Indonesia (including conducting a feasibility and associated study of participant perceptions). This thesis can inform future directions of physiotherapy work-force training and exercise interventions for advancing dementia care in Indonesia and other countries in Asia.
