Physical activity and sedentary behaviour are emerging as significant risk factors to chronic diseases globally, with demographic and lifestyle transitions further driving the burden. Despite this, limited information is available regarding the relationship between physical activity and multiple chronic diseases among Nepalese adults and the potential barriers and facilitators of physical activity participation. We found that participation in physical activity decreased the likelihood of suffering from cardiometabolic conditions, particularly type 2 diabetes and hypertension. Traditional gender norms, family responsibilities, and lack of a conducive built environment hindered physical activity participation. Hence, a multi-sectoral approach is required to address growing inactivity levels.
