Performance Improvements of Visible Light Communication Systems

thesis
posted on 2024-04-09, 05:50 authored by KRISHNENDU BERA
Visible light communications (VLC) can complement Wi-Fi using light from LED or laser as an information carrier. Current VLC systems have small coverage and short range. Interference is also a problem in a VLC network due to small cell size. In this thesis, an engineered diffuser has been used to improve the coverage in a hybrid LED-LD VLC system. A liquid lens has been utilized to design a dynamic field of view VLC receiver to mitigate interference. A 3D indoor positioning system has been presented as a path towards VLC market adoption.
