Trade agreements in the 21st century have evolved to include provisions that increasingly intrude into sectors previously the domain of governments alone. The potential for unintended consequences for the health sector arising from these agreements is poorly understood. This study explored the potential implications for the nursing workforce in Australia of select provisions of trade agreements using, as an example, the ‘Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership'.
