Ordered Mesoporous Carbons as a Versatile Gas Adsorbent
thesis

Ordered mesoporous carbons (OMCs) are carbon materials which have abundant nanopores ranging from 2 nm to 50 nm, with most of the pores ordered and uniform-sized. The OMCs have large surface area and pore volume comparable to conventional activated carbon materials, making it a promising gas adsorbent. This thesis investigated the application of OMCs as a versatile gas adsorbent and compared its adsorption performance with a commercially available activated carbon. The understandings achieved in this thesis contributed to the knowledge in (1) the application of the OMCs as a gas adsorbent alternative to conventional activated carbons (2) methods of modifying the OMC material to adsorb different types of gas pollutants.
