Osseointegrated implant is a novel technique that is reckoned as an alternative treatment for patients with above-knee amputation to the socket-prothesis system. However, this technique has two major limitations, stress shielding and a lack of assessment method for the osseointegration process. This thesis develops a parametric optimization scheme for the novel osseointegrated implant aiming to reduce the effect of stress shielding. Also, the capability of the vibration analysis on monitoring the osseointegration process is examined. A quantitative parameter E-index is proposed for this method.
