Online legal information in Victoria and the development of legal capability in legal self-helpers

thesis
posted on 2021-01-25, 09:01 authored by Fiona Thompson
The thesis examined the extent to which online legal information services provide legal self-helpers with the information that they need to develop the legal capability to resolve everyday civil legal problems. The research identified a number of areas for practical improvement in legal information services to assist legal self-helpers. A method of evaluating the development of legal capability through the use of legal information was proposed. The importance of addressing the affective aspects of legal capability, such as self-confidence and perseverance, was emphasised in the research findings.
