Polymers, or plastics, are everywhere around us. Besides making up some of the everyday objects we regularly use like water bottles, cell phones or the clothes we wear, they also are abundant in nature! DNA and proteins are biomolecules that everyone knows. They play vital roles in our own body and are in fact nature’s own polymer materials. But how would it be if we could make plastics that could fulfil some of the functions that proteins have? This is where this thesis comes in by trying to bridge the gap between synthetic plastics and biopolymers!
