Numerical modeling and analysis of hydrogen blast furnace ironmaking process

thesis
posted on 2022-08-05, 06:44 authored by JING LI

Hydrogen blast furnace (BF) ironmaking promises to reduce carbon footprint, but the hydrogen usage limit inside the BF is not well investigated in previous studies. This thesis uses a recently developed 3D CFD BF model to explore the hydrogen usage limit and propose methods to lift this limit. The effects of injecting hydrogen into BF through hearth tuyeres, shaft tuyeres and both of them under different operation conditions are studied.
