Novel two-dimensional material-based membranes for efficient molecular separation

thesis
posted on 2022-09-25, 22:32 authored by Ruoxin Wang
This thesis investigates two-dimensional (2D) materials as building blocks for fabricating next-generation membranes. Because of their excellent physicochemical properties such as atomic thickness and abundant functional groups, the resulting 2D material-based membranes show tunable properties required to address the challenging separations faced in industry. Particularly these membranes exhibit unique nanopores and nanochannels that facilitate selective molecular transport processes. This thesis develops the precise manipulation methods for further enhancing membrane performance for applications in water treatment, ion, organic solvent and gas separations.
